The staircases on the pyramid`s four sides have a total of 365 steps, representing solar year. In additionl, a remarkable archaeological-astronomical phenomenon is played out here each year: during the equinoxes, the sun projects seven triangles of light and shadow on the northen side of the pyramid, simulating an undulating snake`s body that joins a beautifully carved plumed serpenter`s head at the base if the staircase.
